Putos Secos

Putos Secos emerged from the KCCK collective and brings together Rui Lima, Sérgio Martins, Jorge Quintela and Annie Kleinhesselink. All four are seasoned in experimental, noise and punk projects, among them SoundScope, Morteshopping, Mstad and Mlynarczik. Here they carry that abrasive grammar onto the dancefloor. Techno is the engine: a relentless four-to-the-floor pulse and a low end built for bodies rather than ears.

At its heart sits an unabashed love of the TB-303, whose squelching acid basslines are coaxed, bent and overdriven to the point of rupture. Over it hangs a stoner haze of saturated drones, slowed-down weight and distortion worn as texture, not ornament. Kleinhesselink and Lima share vocal duties, moving between incantation, chant and outright shout. Their voices are fed through the machines until they fold into the rhythm section itself. Their EP ‘Previous Nirvana’ distils the result: a techno that is hypnotic, physical and gloriously unhinged. It keeps punk’s urgency and noise’s appetite for excess without ever surrendering the groove.
